Wacky Web Tale

The Haunted Tower

One afternoon James and Ashley were walking down a(n) scary trail, looking for kindling for their campfire. The trees were dark and green, and there were colorful wildflowers all around. James and Ashley began to pick the wildflowers, and after a while, they ran so far that they had wandered away from the trail.

It started to get dark. James began to get worried, but Ashley seemed excited to have an adventure. “Look!” Ashley said. “Do you see that place? It looks like a house!”

“We're saved!” cried James, who was relieved.

Once they got closer, James felt very uneasy again. It didn't look like the cozy little cottage James had been imagining, but rather a big, spooky tower! It was about 7 feet tall, and it was covered with black ivy and moss. It was the creepiest thing James had ever seen!

James said, “Ashley, let's keep walking! There's no way I'm going into that tower! It looks haunted!”

“Don't be such a(n) coward! We're going in. I think it looks perfectly un-haunted!” said Ashley.

James was so scared that he could not open his eyes. He felt his legs chatter as Ashley opened the door. All of a sudden, James felt that he was not alone. He opened his eyes, prepared to see the worst. But instead, he saw all his friends and family inside the haunted tower! “Surprise! Happy birthday, James!” they all screamed.

Poetry- Do I Belong

Lost in a world so full of rights,
Nobody cares to see my plight.

Born as a child filled with a want,
I am still the female gene nobody wants.

Excluded from society
Here I stand loosing my dignity.

What more could i ask for than a life,
But now I pray for my sacrifice.

Day by day, I am a liability,
I stand now showing you my ability.

I am the child you once rejected,
And now all I ask is for you to take me back.

This poem is titled Do I Belong. I think the author is saying that she feels isolated and unwanted. In my opinion, this is a nice poem and many other people can relate to the author because others may also feel unwanted.

Myths and Legends- How Kangaroo Got His Tail

This legend, How Kangaroo Got His Tail, is often told by Australian Aboriginals. It is a legend telling how two friends, Mirram the Kangaroo and Warreen the Wombat became enemies. It says that Mirram always slept outside under the stars, until one winter night. Mirram always laughed at Warreen for sleeping inside, so that winter night when Mirram came to sleep inside, Warreen did not help him get warm. the next morning Mirram hit him on the head with a rock, making his head become flat. In revenge, Warreen threw a spear at Mirram and it hit the base of his spine, causing the kangaroo to have a tail.
